This apartment was designed to showcase the client’s wonderfully diverse art collection.  The main challenge was to properly showcase the Tang Dynasty (618-907) Chinese horse sculpture collection.  A custom millwork piece holds the collection on floating glass shelves cantilevered from lacquered panels in three colors, chosen to complement the delicate tones of the ceramic statues.  The Mondrian-like arrangement of panels and new closet doors comprise two walls and wrap around a formerly awkward corner of the loft like space.  Paintings by contemporary Japanese Artist Tomokazu Matsuyama hang in the Living Room and Bedroom whose color palates were inspired by the paintings.  The focus is now entirely on the art.
